Character name: Cid Highwind

Fandom: Final Fantasy VII.

Home World: Traverse Town (from the Planet)

Affiliation: The Resistance.

Appearance: In Kingdom Hearts, Cid has generously shed his jacket, scarf, and other pilot necessities for a white muscle t-shirt and blue baggy pants. The utility belt he wears around his waist could probably kill a small child. He refuses to take off his goggles when anyone is watching.

Personality: Cid is a hot-tempered pilot who often says the first thing that comes to mind instead of thinking it through. He’s not afraid to hurt the feelings of anyone, especially if he thinks their stupidity is uncalled for. He’s got a mouth that would make any Reservoir Dog cry and enough hot air to keep arguing until he gets his point across. Despite his tough exterior, Cid has a good heart. He is very loyal to his friends, no matter what ill-tempered things he says to them, and a strong father figure. He’s not exactly a bitter dried-up old man just yet, but he’s certainly looking forward to raising hell in the nursing home he gets dumped in.

Biography: Cid Highwind did not grow up in Traverse Town. Like many other members of the Resistance, Cid’s world was destroyed during the invasion of the Heartless. He escaped from his world on a gummi ship he’d built himself.

Up until that fateful day, Cid had been leading a rather normal life. He was (and still is) an extraordinary pilot. His expertise in the art of gummi ships was called upon frequently since, at that time, the design was not yet finalized. He received minimal recognition for his achievements, the men offering him a paycheck taking much of the credit for themselves. This did not bother Cid as much as their disapproval to actually put one of these ships to the test. The gummis were designed for world-to-world travel, not just simple speed runs around his home world, and he wanted to try it.

The Heartless almost did him a favor by invading, but his dream came at a high price. The good people he had worked with – his assistants and technicians – did not make it to the new world with him.

Begrudgingly, Cid now spends his days running the only accessory shop in Traverse Town. Whenever he has the time he scavenges for gummi parts to upgrade his ship, his old habits and dedication to the art that he loves never vacant from his mind for too long.
